The market these days is flooded with monitors left and right. It has become so hard to find a display that suits your needs, thanks to the sheer number of choices we have. The BenQ EW3270ZL is a 32″ display that promises to be a great one for both work and play. What makes this display stand out? Let’s find that out in the full BenQ EW3270ZL review below.
Design
BenQ has always gone with a simple and practical design over a glorious one. In the BenQ EW3270ZL, they’ve stuck to their principles and delivered a monitor that looks so minimalistic. The monitor comes in black and the first impression is pretty good. The matte black finish on the front is not distractive in any way. The backside comes with a brushed finish which adds a bit of character to the monitor.
One of the best design elements of this BenQ EW3270ZL monitor is the bezels around the screen. They are not that thick and are pretty thin. With thin bezels, you can concentrate on your work without getting distracted. It might look like a first world problem, but you can never go back to a display with thick bezels once you use this monitor.
The stand at the bottom has good weight and is a sturdy one. It holds the display well and it doesn’t allow any wobbling even when you push the monitor. You can tilt the monitor front and back, but that’s pretty much it. You can’t swivet, pivot, or even adjust the height of this display. If you want to mount this display on the walls, you’re out of luck. There is no support for VESA mounting on this display. Overall, the design is decent with a few shortcomings here and there.
BenQ EW3270ZL Performance
The BenQ EW3270ZL is a 32″ display that comes with a VA panel and a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Even for a 32″ display, the pixel density is good. You get crisp and sharp images that come with excellent colors.
The monitor can get really bright at around 300 nits. Even when you’re in a brightly lit space, you can see the contents on the display without any problem. The contrast ratio of the display is 3000:1 which is fantastic. The whites are bright and the blacks are pretty deep as well. The grayscale performance of the display is impressive as you can distinguish between each shade with little effort.
The panel we have here is a VA panel. This one is much better than the TN panel but falls short of the IPS panels. The colors are pretty neat but the viewing angles are not as good as the IPS displays. The monitor comes with support for 10-bit colors and covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut and the REC.709 color gamut.
The display is a widescreen one and with that, you can enough real estate to have two windows side by side. If you love to work with this setup, then your productivity will rise with this display. If you’re in a profession where the accuracy of colors is super important, you should look for an IPS display like this one.
The gaming experience on the BenQ EW3270ZL model is an excellent one. The response time is not that bad and that leads to smoother gameplay. We get an input lag of around 14ms which is comparable to even high-end 4K displays. Though the refresh rate here is just around 60Hz, the rich colors on screen elevate your gaming experience.
The overall performance of this BenQ EW3270ZL model is super impressive. You can use this monitor for both work and play and it’ll handle both with equal grace.
Features
One of the main selling points of this BenQ EW3270ZL model is the Brightness Intelligence Plus technology. With the help of the integrated sensors, the monitor adjusts the brightness of the display depending on the ambient lighting and the on-screen content. When you’re in a dark room, the brightness automatically comes down and vice versa when you’re in a well-lit room.
Sometimes we don’t care that much to change the brightness to suit our room lighting. This can affect our eyes in the long run. Having a feature that automatically takes care of this can only be a blessing in disguise.
Another nice feature is the flicker-free technology in this display. When you take your smartphone and record most displays with the slow-motion mode, you’ll see a lot of flicker on the screen. In this BenQ EW3270ZL model, flickers have been completely eliminated and that’s a great plus for those who run long hours with the monitors.
There is also a blue light filter which controls the amount of blue light emitting from the display. With various modes, you can restrict the amount of blue light coming out of the screen depending on what you’re doing. This filter comes in particularly handy when you’re reading something with a white background.
Connectivity
The BenQ EW3270ZL comes with a decent number of ports for connectivity. There are a couple of HDMI ports, a Display Port, a Mini Display Port, a headphone jack, and audio in line. There are two 3W speakers that are integrated into the display. The output is decent but nothing out of the ordinary. The monitor lacks VESA mountability which can be a real concern for a lot of people.
Bottomline
The BenQ EW3270ZL is an excellent QHD monitor for the price. It comes with impressive specs. The monitor is suitable for both media consumption and gaming. The rich colors, thanks to the contrast ratio, make this monitor a pleasure to use. The eye care features of this display are an added bonus. If you’re looking for a neat QHD display that performs well and takes care of your eyes, then this one could be it.
