The Acer Aspire TC-885-UA92 desktop is a budget desktop that comes with enough power to deal with your everyday activities. The 9th gen i5 processor and the 12GB RAM are main attractions of this low-priced Acer desktop.

The Acer Aspire TC-885-UA92 is a simple computer that is made with home users in mind. It comes with a 9th gen Intel processor, a decent amount of RAM which you don’t find in similarly priced desktops, and a bunch of other specs that satisfy the spec geek in you.
The desktop is mainly aimed at people who would be happy with a little bit of power to handle their everyday tasks. This Acer Aspire TC-885-UA92 review will discuss every single aspect of this desktop so that you can make an informed decision about this budget offering from Acer.
Design
When it comes to design, there aren’t many new things to find here. Acer has taken the classic tower design and has made minor refinements to make it better. Other than that, you’ll be hard pressed to find major differentiators.
The power button is at the top making it easy for you to turn on the machine even when you place the desktop under the table. There is a vertical DVD drive which is pretty handy though not a lot of us are still friends with that technology.
Below the optical drive, you can see a couple of ports, an SD card reader, and also the mic and headphone jack. Having them at the front makes for easier access.
The rest of the port and connectivity stuff can be found at the back of the desktop. There are vents at the back and the side for cooling of the desktop. Though this is nothing special, it should help to keep the desktop at decent temperatures.
The keyboard and the mouse are standard wired ones. Though people prefer a lot less clutter at their tables, this is what we can expect in a sub $500 desktop machine.

One of the better specs in this desktop is the processor. We have an Intel Core i5-9400 processor at the helm. This is a 9th gen chip from Intel and comes with 6 powerful cores. With a base clocking frequency of 2.9GHz, the processor can clock up to a maximum of 4.1GHz.
The processor is a pretty powerful one and has excellent scores when it comes to benchmarks. It gets a CPUMark score of 11826 which is pretty impressive. The six cores do contribute a lot towards achieving high benchmark scores.
How about real-life performance? With this processor in charge, you can run pretty much any application you want to run. Even some high-end applications run smoothly, thanks to this 9th gen intel processor.
The processor works well in tandem with the 12GB RAM from the memory department. If you like multitasking, this desktop is perfect for it. The 12 gigs of RAM allows you to run many applications simultaneously without compromising on the performance of the machine. If you’re coming from a machine with 4 gigs of RAM, then this one is a credible upgrade in terms of performance.
Storage and Gaming
The Acer Aspire TC-885-UA92 comes with a 512GB solid-state drive. The good news here is that Acer has not cheaped out on the storage. You will see a lot of companies that go with a mechanical drive for budget devices. Here, we have an SSD which means you’ll get much better speeds.
The operating system will boot up in seconds. You will be able to open any application faster than in a desktop with only a mechanical drive. Having an SSD improves your user experience on the whole. Full marks to Acer for keeping the user experience in mind.
Some might argue that 512GB is not much of a space. While we do agree on that point, we get an SSD here and including a 1TB SSD would bring up the cost so much that it defeats the purpose of this machine.
The SSD comes with a pre-installed copy of Windows 10 Home which is a pretty neat operating system.
How about gaming on the Acer Aspire TC-885-UA92?
The Acer Aspire TC-885-UA92 desktop is not made for gaming. You can see that with their choice of the hardware itself. The graphics card we have here is an integrated one and it is clearly not as good as a discrete graphics card.
If you’re a casual gamer, you might be able to play some light games. If you want to play graphically intense games, then this is not the right desktop for you.
Connectivity
The Acer Aspire TC-885-UA92 comes with a ton of connectivity options. You get a USB 3.1 type C gen 2 port on the front which is excellent for data transfer. There is also a USB 3.1 gen 2 port which also works well for data transfer and connectivity.
The HDMI ports are perfect for connecting the desktop with displays and other external devices. There is also a VGA port that’ll come in handy if you want to connect a display to this desktop. There are 4 USB 2.0 ports which can come in really handy as well. Apart from that, there is also a USB 3.1 gen 1 port which more or less does that same, just a bit better.
If you’re a fan of high-speed internet, then there is an Ethernet port that’ll help you get that. If you’re not a fan of oddly colored wires, then the 802.11ac WiFi can get the job done.
Another nice addition is Bluetooth 5.0. This is the latest generation of Bluetooth and comes with a much better range which improves connectivity with external devices. You can now connect printers from quite a distance, thanks to Bluetooth 5.0 support in this desktop.
Overall, the connectivity department is so full, you’ll hardly need any adapters when it comes to working with external devices.

For a desktop computer that is priced below $500, the Acer Aspire TC-885-UA92 comes with hardware that can only be bettered by itself. The i5-9400 processor from Intel gives all the firepower you need. With the 12GB memory, you can multitask all you want. Not to forget, the SSD gives you excellent performance all day long.
